4G WiMax Mobile Internet
It is becoming increasingly difficult for mobile networks to cope with the huge amounts of data that is now being accessed by new bandwidth hungry smart phones and mobile broadband devices. The pressure that is being put on these networks is now having a major impact on the reliability of connections and speed at which users are able to access data, which is why many providers are now looking at rolling out a new fourth generation of mobile broadband technology that will be able to handle this surge in demand. As a fourth generation technology 4G WiMAX offers mobile network providers the extra capacity it requires and a faster connection speed that will allow them to offer users a whole range of new features along with a more reliable connection.
What changes will 4G WiMAX bring for mobile broadband users?
Once 4G WiMAX is implemented into existing 3G networks users will be able to enjoy a whole range of great new features when connecting with their mobile broadband devices. Users accessing this new network will get connection speeds similar to those found on a regular fixed line broadband connection and this will allow them to download large files, stream videos and audio, access online applications and much more on the mobile broadband device. The new added capacity will also allow users to get online even during peak times with almost no difference in download speed or connection reliability.
Another great advantage of 4G WiMAX is the huge increase in the levels of network coverage that it will provide users, which will allow them to get online from more places than they were ever able to with the previous 3G mobile broadband networks. The reason for this huge improvement in coverage is the greater range that WiMAX enabled base stations are capable of and this will also mean that providers will require fewer of them to cover the same areas. The cost reductions that this offers mobile network providers will mean that it will be more viable to offer the more rural and remote parts of the country with high-speed mobile broadband services.
Which technologies will be competing?
At present 4G WiMAX is the second choice of fourth generation technology with most providers currently looking at LTE as the next upgrade for their mobile broadband networks. Even with both technologies offering very similar connection speeds, coverage and network capacity there are still many providers who have chosen to trial the LTE technology on their mobile broadband networks and these trials have given very favourable results so far. The difference between these technologies is likely to be a major contributing factor with most mobile network providers when it comes to a final decision as 4G WiMAX is the easiest of the two technologies to integrate into existing networks and that also makes it the cheapest as well. For providers this will allow them to build a new fourth generation network quickly and for a fraction of the cost of LTE mobile broadband.
