Ruling on iiNet to be fast-tracked by Australian courts

A landmark court battle regarding copyright infringement that has seen a coalition of both film and TV companies fighting the broadband internet service provider iiNet will now see the final decision fast-tracked by the Australian Federal Court.

Thursday 4th February is the expected date that has now been set for the ruling on one the most observed test copyright court cases in Australia.

Research conducted into communications tools being used by Australians

Over the years the way in which Australians and other people around the world have communicated with loved ones has changed in line with technology, and with many people in Australia and around world now having access to broadband online communications tools have become very popular, providing consumers with ease, speed, and convenience when trying to keep in touch with friends, families, and others.

Sixty percent of Australians visited online retailers in December

The results of a recent survey have shown that during the month of December 2009 around sixty percent of Australians with Internet access visited online retail sites.

The widespread rollout of broadband services over recent years has seen an increase in the number of people that have opted out of the rate race when it comes to doing their shopping, and rather than trawling the shopping malls and High Streets and spending hours stuck in queues have decided instead to shop online and enjoy the convenience, ease, and comfort that comes with this method of shopping.

NBN regional backbone contract given to Alcatel-Lucent

As part of the initial infrastructure of the National Broadband network (NBN) in Australia it has recently been announced by Alcatel-Lucent that leading optical platforms will be deployed by Nextgen Networks.

The $250 million Regional Backbone Blackspots Program launched by the Australian government to provide the main regional centres of the country with competitive backhaul links has now seen Nextgen Networks, a specialist companies that provides high-quality data services throughout Australia winning the tender bid.

Computers with viruses could lose their internet access

A new industry code that has been designed to control and prevent the spread of PC contamination throughout Australia could see any computer infected with a virus being refused access to the internet.

It has been reported that an operate-or-legislate ultimatum to identify computer systems that have become “zombie” computers and are being used for cyber-crime has been issued to the internet industry by the Federal Government.
