4G: Faster mobile broadband to be launched by Optus
Australian communications giant Optus has recently announced that it will be launching faster mobile broadband 4G services in April of next year with hundreds of new base stations across Australia.
For both business and casual broadband users speed is of the essence these days, even when it comes to mobile broadband and internet as opposed to fixed line services. So many people are now reliant on the Internet for such a wide range of things that speed has become one of the major deciding factors for those looking for a mobile broadband service.
This is why many will be pleased to hear that Australian communications giant Optus is to launch faster mobile 4G broadband services next year, which is something that both business and general consumers will be able to benefit from. The provider has said that it will be launching its faster services in around April of next year and will be building up to five hundred new base stations around the country.
Optus chief executive Paul O’Sullivan stated: ”When 3G was first launched one player had a significant time advantage over the others, particularly in wireless broadband. This time around Optus is jumping in and making sure competition is there from the very early stages of the arrival of 4G.”
It is likely that Optus will have its 4G service up and running in central New South Wales by around April and by the middle of next year it will have been extended to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. After this will come Adelaide and Brisbane.
