Many Australians who are keen to get the most out of their mobile broadband experience or enjoy using their internet enabled devices are keen to see existing mobile networks replaced with the more advanced 4G networks, which offer greater capacity and will lead to better quality mobile broadband services, faster speeds, and greater reliability.

It has now been announced by the Australian communications giant Telstra that it is planning to upgrade its network with 4G technology later on this year, which is news that will be welcome by the many casual and business users of mobile broadband and Internet. The plans were announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona by Chief Executive Officer David Thodey.

He said: “Telstra is proud to again be a technology leader, providing Australians with leading-edge mobile broadband services on the world’s largest national mobile network. The technology can provide many Australians with faster data speeds, high-quality video conferencing and faster response times when using mobile applications or accessing the internet.”

He added: “It can also help Telstra meet demand for mobile data, which is doubling every year as customers move to adopt data-hungry smartphones, mobile modems and tablets.”

He also referred to the partnerships that will be making the upgrade possible, adding: “We see the integration of LTE technology into the Next G™ network as a way to continue to deliver high quality services and meet growing customer demand, and we are very happy to bring this service to Australia thanks to a partnership with our long-time collaborators Ericsson, Sierra Wireless and Qualcomm.”
