The advancements that have been made in the world of broadband and technology have helped to revolutionise the way that many of us watch our favourite shows and movies over recent years. One of the areas of viewing that has been affected by these technological advancements is catch up TV and according to a recent report Australian reviews are now streaming more catch up TV than ever before.

It is thought that factors such as faster speeds from Internet Service Providers coupled with greater choice of programming and more generous data allowances have all helped to boost the popularity of streaming catch up TV. The data has been compiled by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

The data shows that in June of this year close to 1.1 million Australians used catch up TV services online. During the same period last year this figure is said to have stood at just 568,000 so the increase has been a dramatic one. The figures were all shown in the recent ACMA statutory Communications Report 2010-2011.

It is thought that whilst the increase in streaming catch up TV programming has already been impressive compared to last year, the full and successful implementation of the government’s National Broadband Network will help to further boost these figures.
