Conroy welcomes Retail Service Providers at Tasmania NBN launch
Recently the Tasmanian NBN launch took place in Mornington, and in his speech Senator Stephen Conroy took the opportunity to welcome several Retail Service Providers on board.
An exciting event took place recently for businesses and consumers in Tasmania, and this came in the form of the Tasmanian NBN launch, which took place in Mornington. The event gave officials the opportunity to outline the many benefits that the fibre based service would provide for end users, and also gave Senator Stephen Conroy the chance to welcome a number of Retail Service Providers on board.
A proof of concept test centre was launched in the area, and Conroy said that this would give Retail Service Providers the chance to test their services in a live environment as part of the NBN rollout. He welcomed on board a number of providers, and this included Primus Telecom, iiNet, and Internode. He also gave more information about the benefits of the NBN, and how the area could benefit from both personal and business improvements.
Conroy stated: “NBN Tasmania remains on track to deliver the first high speed broadband services from July and the new Test Centre will assist in those preparations. It will provide the platform and capability for the service providers to test and refine innovative new services that will be offered to customers as part of the NBN.”
He went on to state: “It’s great to see so much interest from retail service providers in offering services in Tasmania and I welcome their support for the National Broadband Network. This shows they see compelling business opportunities in providing Tasmanians with services over the NBN. Strong interest means more competition, more choice, better and more innovative services for Tasmanians. High speed broadband will deliver significant opportunities in Tasmania, and across Australia, and I’m pleased to be able to mark another milestone today.”
