acnet, the Asian telco provider, and Telstra Wholesale have signed a partnership agreement that will see Pacnet supplying both access and network services.

The CEO of Pacnet A/NZ, Deborah Homewood, confirmed that Pacnet will be offering a comprehensive suite of telco solutions to Telstra following this business arrangement that is valued at more than $35 million per year.

She advised “This will be across both voice and data services, including; PSTN; ISDN; ADSL1; ADSL2+; Transmission; Business Grade Metro Ethernet; and Carrier Grade Ethernet. On an international level, this allows services such as International Private Lines (IPL) and Internet transit.”

The deal that has been struck with Telstra, according to Homewood, will be a great addition to the current Australian network Pacnet already has and also the EAC-C2C subsea cable infrastructure across APAC owned by the company.

Telstra is already using Pacnet as an ADSL2+ wholesale partner to provide residential homes and businesses throughout Australia with super fast broadband access using standard phone lines running at speeds of up to 20Mbps. Pacnet has also advised that on top of this deal it will also be bringing out further ADSL2+ high speed broadband services using the ADSL2+ network infrastructure that Telstra already has in place nationally. The service that Pacnet offers now makes use of the Telstra ADSL2+ DSLAM infrastructure and with it being installed in over 1400 exchanges makes it the largest ADSL2+ rollout to date.

Pacnet previously only offered broadband speeds of up to 8Mbps using standard ADSL, but Homewood claims that with this ADSL2+ technology that Telstra has provided it will be able to use proven ADSL technology to provide download speeds of up to 20Mbps. She advised that Pacnet would be packaging these new ADSL2+ plans starting at about $74.95 per month with lots of features added. She stated “Additionally, we are also offering the latest ADSL2+ service as part of our suite of managed services for businesses.”
