How will high speed broadband benefit arts and culture?
A gathering is to take place next week where members of the National Regional Arts Forum will meet with other guests of honour to discuss the impact of high speed broadband on the arts and culture.
The rollout of the National Broadband Network is expected to benefit many different areas such as business, the economy, retail, and many others. Higher speeds and better quality services means that many people will be able to benefit from this exciting if somewhat controversial broadband network, the benefits of which have been reiterated time and time again by broadband and communications minister Stephen Conroy.
A forum is now set to take place to discuss how the National Broadband Network and high speed broadband access will be able to benefit the arts and culture sector, with particular attention being paid to regional and remote communities according to reports.
There will be sixty regional arts practitioners at the event, as well as stakeholders from across the country and policymakers. The gathering will be taking place on 28th March at Parliament House in Canberra. The National Regional Arts Broadband Forum will have special guests such as Simon Crean Minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government and Minister for the Arts.
The gathering is based on discussion of the National Broadband Network and the various benefits and opportunities that it will bring to the arts and culture sector in various communities. The creation of new work and better communications methods will also be discussed, and it is hoped that it will generate more interest in this topic when it comes to the arts and culture sector.
