Mount Gambier is situated in the Limestone Coast around four hundred and fifty kilometres from Adelaide, Australia. According to a recent report many of those in this area are stuck with first generation broadband services, and this is because of the costs relating to ADSL2+ broadband services, which is a problem that can affect both businesses and households in the area.

However, the area could benefit from assistance with broadband thanks to the Internet Service Provider Internode installing its own broadband equipment in the area, which is linked to Adelaide. This means that improved broadband services for businesses in the area is available, which will come as good news since these services are usually only provided in big cities.

The provider has also taken action to boost its presence in the area, having installed a free wireless hot spot in the library in the area as well as in a number of other locations. This means that residents, visitors, and business users will be able to get online for free by using these hot spots for access providing they have a wireless broadband device.

Having grown up in Mount Gambier Internode Corporate Account Manager Dylan Street said: “Many of our Mount Gambier customers are still using first generation broadband because of the high cost of ADSL2+. By installing our own equipment, we will put downward pressure on ADSL2+ prices, making high-speed broadband more affordable for local people. Internode has also launched a range of value-added services such as our Extreme SHDSL service for businesses.”
