It has been announced recently that the broadband service provider Internode is now offering affordable wireless broadband services in the Riverland/Murraylands area of South Australia. The affordable, high speed broadband service is provided via a WiMAX wireless network, which will cover large parts of this area.

The network will allow residents and businesses in these areas to enjoy access to high speed broadband at affordable prices, and can help those that are based in rural areas. Under the Federal Government’s Australian Broadband Guarantee initiative any business or resident in the area is entitled to a free connection to a wireless DSL broadband service if they cannot get ADSL, and this is what the WiMAX network from Internode provides.

The broadband provider has been promoting the network recently at the 2010 Riverland Field Days at Barmera. This involved staff members from Internode using computers to show consumers the coverage available and also helping them to sign up to the subsidized services available.

The network was designed and built by a subsidiary of Internode, Agile Communications, and an official from Agile said: “We’re about giving consumers a better range of choices. We’re using the Riverland Field Days as an on-the-ground way to talk to a lot of people about how they can take advantage of Internode’s extended network coverage. The real beauty is that people in this region will not pay any more than if they were located right in the middle of Adelaide.”
