MD of Aussie broadband and communications giant resigns

It has been announced that the managing director of Australian broadband and communications giant Telstra has resigned after almost ten years with the telco.

In a recent announcement the Australian communications and broadband giant Telstra has announced that its MD has given in his resignation after nearly ten years with telco. Resignation has been tendered by David Moffatt, group managing director of Telstra Consumer Marketing and Channels. He is likely to remain there for another six months or so whilst a suitable replacement is found, according to the report.

Telstra CEO, David Thodey, stated: “I would like to personally thank David for his contribution and unwavering commitment to Telstra and I look forward to working with him as we manage this transition. David has successfully played a major role at Telstra in building a world-leading, fully integrated, consumer retail business. He has been a champion of the development of Telstra’s people, driven our customer-centric business model based on Market Based Management and was the major force behind the creation of our dynamic, consumer retail experience T[life].”

Moffat himself stated: “The past nine years has marked an extraordinary technological revolution for our customers. At Telstra that means Next G; BigPond content and services; Foxtel Digital, IQ and HD and T[life], the only large scale ‘live’ customer experience technology retail environment in Australia.”

He added: “It has been an amazing time to be an executive of Australia’s leading telecommunications company, a world-leading one at that. Telstra Consumer has led the industry in innovation and reinvestment in the mobile, fixed, broadband and pay TV areas.”
