TE Connectivity has recently announced that it has been awarded and multimillion dollar NBN contract relating to the supply and installation of optical connectivity systems in home and business premises. The five year contract has been awarded by the company heading up the NBN rollout, NBN Co., and is worth £105 million.

More than 18,000 have already been passed by the NBN, and NBN Co has said that everyone will be offered access to the NBN network. It is expected to improve the lives of many Australians with improved access to health, educational and other important services, as well as to benefit businesses with faster, better quality broadband access to enable them to compete effectively on an international basis. The CEO of the NBN Co, Mike Quigley, said: “NBN Co is pleased to be working with TE Connectivity again as we ramp up the network rollout. As we only recently announced our 12-month rollout schedule — with construction to start in areas covering over half a million premises — today’s announcement is an important part of the development of our supply chain.”

Alan Clarke, President, TE Connectivity’s Network Solutions segment, added: “We are excited to have been selected again as an NBN Co partner and we will continue to make investments in infrastructure and staff in Australia in support of the NBN Co. The team at TE Connectivity is extremely proud to be a part of NBN Co’s deployment of broadband services in Australia.”
