New chairperson for NBN Co announced by Conroy

Senator Stephen Conroy has announced the name of the new chairperson for NBN Co, which has been established to manage the delivery of the National Broadband Network.

NBN Co was established to deal with the delivery of the National Broadband Network, and recently the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, announced the new chairperson of the board of NBN Co Ltd, who would be responsible for leading NBN Co forward through what is expected to be a period of rapid growth when it rolls out high speed broadband across Australia.

The new chairperson of the board of NBN Co has been confirmed by Conroy as Harrison Young, who is said to have a diverse array of executive and leadership experience. Young is a Director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and is on the Court of Directors at the Bank of England. He also has present or past executive and management experience at Better Place (Australia) Pty Limited, Morgan Stanley, and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, as well as various other institutes, agencies, and societies.

After announcing that Young would be taking over as chairman of NBN Co Senator Conroy stated: “I am very pleased to welcome the appointment of Mr Young as NBN Co Chairperson and am confident he will make a great contribution. Mr Young is an experienced executive and director and brings substantial leadership and financial experience to the NBN Co board.”

He also went on to state: “The appointment of Mr Young further extends the already strong set of skills possessed by the NBN Co board. NBN Co is delighted that Mr Young has agreed to commence his role immediately.”
