The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, and the Hon Simon Crean, Minister for Regional Development and Local Government, have been seeking comments from stakeholders over the draft guidelines for the Digital Local Government program.
It was announced recently that the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, and the Hon Simon Crean, Minister for Regional Development and Local Government, have been seeking comments from stakeholders over the draft guidelines for the Digital Local Government program.
Digital Local Government program stakeholders have been asked for their comments on the guidelines, which include information on the aims and goals of the program and the process that councils need to follow in order to access the initials rounds of funding.
Senator Conroy said that it was important that comments were received from stakeholders in order for the draft, which includes details on the development and delivery of online solutions made possible by the National Broadband Network, to be finalised. He said: “It is important that relevant parties such as local government organisations and the ICT industry have the opportunity to comment on these draft guidelines.”
Mr Crean added that the comments and feedback would ensure that the program delivered services that would meet the needs of both local governments and local communities. He said: “As the NBN is rolled out, I encourage the ICT industry to work with local councils to help develop improved and innovative council services to homes and businesses.”
