At the recent Applications for the Broadband Economy Recognition (AMBER) Awards in Sydney the online retailer of the year award has been awarded to a local Queensland pet business.

Since broadband service went mainstream more and more people have started to buy a wide range of goods and services online, and this has seen a growing number of retailers set up their businesses online. Whilst there are some online retailers and market places that have become household names such as eBay there are also many smaller, local retailers selling a wide range of goods online.

Earlier this week Sydney was host to the Applications for the Broadband Economy Recognition (AMBER) Awards, where the award for online retailer of the year was dished out. However, this award did not go to some huge well known online corporation as some may have expected it to but was instead awarded to a local Queensland business dealing with online pet supplies.

The award for online retailer of the year went to VetShop Australia, with the online pet supplies company beating off stiff competition from a number of big name retailers. The business was set up just ten years ago at the back of an animal clinic by two brothers, Mark and Steven Perissinotto. The business now supplies to more than two hundred thousand customers across the globe.

One of the brothers that founded the business stated: “We’ve worked hard to provide not only the best pet supplies and medicines, but the best possible e-shopping experience for pet owners. We’re thrilled to have won this award considering the strength of our competition and want to thank all of our loyal customers for their support.”
