Plans to reshape it service operations announced by Chorus
With new plans to bring in a third service provider, which will force it to make changes to the areas covered by its existing service companies, telecoms network access company, Chorus has announced that it will be looking to improve on its customer service levels by moving its field operations around.
The new provider Visionstream will be brought into the company although Chorus has confirmed that it will carry on working with Transfield Services and Downer Edi Engineering as it finishes lengthy contract discussions with the operators.
The various field engineers that repair and install broadband network and telecommunications services in both businesses and homes all over New Zealand on behalf of Chorus are currently managed by these firms.
It is expected that workforce in Northland regions and Auckland, which is where Visionstream will be operating, will be offered both owner-operated and employment opportunities by the company.
The deal that has been struck between Chorus and the service providers is contracted over 10 years, which will give the companies far greater peace of mind in terms of improved confidence and business assurance, and will also see Downer receiving the Wellington operations.
The network and upgrade work carried out by Chorus is intensifying as it works harder to meet the demands for improved telecommunications services by New Zealand customers said the CEO for Chorus Mark Ratcliffe.
He added “We want to strengthen our field force capabilities to make good on our promise to deliver a world-class network that can support ever-faster, better telecommunications services to more and more customers.”
Chorus advised its 2500 workforce of the new agreements and said that it would enable the company to improve its focus on quality, providing service hours that could be shaped around their customers needs and the allocation of resources at peak-loads in order to improve overall efficiency.
