February 4th, 2010 by Richard

Recent research has been carried out into the various communication tools that are being used by Australians, and with many now having access to broadband online communication has become increasingly popular.

Over the years the way in which Australians and other people around the world have communicated with loved ones has changed in line with technology, and with many people in Australia and around world now having access to broadband online communications tools have become very popular, providing consumers with ease, speed, and convenience when trying to keep in touch with friends, families, and others.

A survey was conducted in January of this year, and the results showed that Skype was becoming increasingly popular amongst Australians by way of a means of communication. A survey of consumers showed that many people thought that the next best thing to family and friends being able to actually get together during the holiday season was to be able to communicate via online methods such as Skype.

Skype video proved particularly popular amongst consumers, as this allowed them to both communicate with and see their loved ones. Many people are also using Skype because it is a cost effective means of communications, and has helped them to keep their costs down. It is thought that advancements such as the National Broadband Network will help to further increase the popularity of online communications tools such as Skype.

One Skype official said: “The results from this survey illustrate that Australians are looking for high quality, cost effective ways to communicate with their loved ones during special times. Skype’s high quality voice and video calls have become an essential communication tool for Australians, and as internet access and speed improves across the country these statistics are likely to further increase.â€
