Residents from Point Cook enjoying high speed internet
According to a recent report residents from Point Cook who have connected to the Telstra fibre optic broadband service eight weeks after its launch, are now enjoying the benefits of high speed internet access.
Over three hundred residents from Point Cook are said to be enjoying the benefits of high speed internet access having connected to the fibre optic broadband project from Telstra, which was launched eight weeks ago. This was Australia’s first rollout of fibre optic broadband in an existing estate, and many residents were keen to get on board.
Many have expressed delight and surprise at how fast the internet actually is when connected to the service from the communications giant Telstra, and with so many people now using their broadband service for a range of purposes such as streaming data and online gaming many will find that the higher speed service is ideal for their needs.
One resident from the estate said: “The high bandwidth and low latency to domestic and international sites is the fastest I have ever seen in Australia. It’s allowing me to work from home more often and work much faster than I was able to on ADSL2+. This ultimately saves me time and money, as well as reducing my carbon footprint as I can now work efficiently from home.”
An official from Telstra said: “Thousands of professionals, home business operators and families with school kids have moved to Point Cook in the past few years and their demand for broadband access is strong. We’re noticing that even those who currently have ADSL2+ access are looking to upgrade to Velocity®, which offers up to 100 megabits per second*. Daniel’s story is one of many. We’ve had a terrific local reaction from residents in the footprint.
Like all network rollouts, the trial footprint has boundaries and this means some people miss out on fibre-optic connection. We encourage those customers to get in touch with us to see what other solution we can provide.”
