It has been reported that the Australian communications and broadband giant Telstra has selected Ruckus Smart 802.11n Technology as a means of delivering its new in-home Internet Video Service. The technology will allow Telstra subscribers to enjoy the popular Telstra T-Box™ without the need for wires.

The technology means that Telstra subscribers who want to be able to use the T-Box™ without wires will be able to enjoy the flexibility and means to do so. The T-Box™ set-top box combines BigPond® TV, movie downloads, HD free-to-air channels and a personal video recorder.

Officials from Telstra have said that there are a number of reasons why the Ruckus technology was chosen over other options, and some of the reasons given by the Telco included the technology’s ease of use, its ability to handle streaming video content highly effectively, and the fact that it can adapt to obstacles and interference that could otherwise cause viewing problems.

For consumers that want to take up the wireless option through this technology the process is fast and simple. They will be able to use a pre-configured Ruckus WiFi system that can simply be plugged in to give the user wireless ability. There will be no cabling or configuration required for the system, which will give the consumer far more freedom with regards to where they place their televisions and T-Boxes within the home.
