Wireless Internet connections in Australia show impressive growth
It has been reported that wireless internet connections across Australia are showing faster growth than all other forms of Internet services.
According to official figures that have been released recently the growth of wireless internet connections across Australia has been greater than all other forms of Internet services. The popularity of these connections has surged as the government continues with its plans to roll out the National Broadband Network to offer superfast internet access to households and businesses.
The government has been insisting that the way forward in terms of the Internet and broadband technology is though fixed line fibre optic broadband networks and services. However, the official figures seem to indicate that consumers have their own ideas about the best way forward in terms of broadband access.
In the twelve months leading up to December 2010 take up of wireless internet services increased by a massive fifty percent according to the figures. This pushed numbers up to over four million. The figures were released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. This came after a report that was commissioned by the government stated that wireless broadband technology could actually pose a threat to the National Broadband Network.
The level of wireless broadband connections is said to have increased every year in Australia since 2006. Around forty percent of Australia’s Internet service market is now made up of wireless broadband technology. Overall Internet subscriptions in Australia are said to have increased by nine percent in the six months leading up to December of last year.
