iiNet brings faster broadband to Darwin
Thousands of households and businesses in the Darwin area are now enjoying access to high speed broadband thanks to Internet Service Provider iiNet switching on its new faster broadband equipment at three exchanges.

High speed broadband services have become increasingly important to both individuals and to business users over recent years, with more and more people wanting or needing to conduct online activities that require faster broadband speeds. Thanks to Internet Service Provider iiNet, thousands of businesses and households in the Darwin area now have access to this high speed broadband after it was reports that the company has switched on its new faster broadband equipment at three metropolitan telephone exchanges.
The three exchanges where the new equipment has been activated are in the suburbs of Casuarina, Nightcliff and Palmerston. It is thought that more than 23,500 business and households in the affected areas will benefit from faster broadband as a result of this move. The switching on of the equipment means that people who live and work in the greater Darwin area will now be able to benefit from faster speed.
Michael Malone, Chief Executive Officer of iiNet, said that the ISP was committed to providing customers with real competition, competitive prices and improved services in the run up to the rollout of the National Broadband Network. He said: “The NBN rollout will take time, but from today more households and businesses in the Norhern Territory will be able to enjoy the benefits of superfast broadband.”
He added: “Customers in Casuarina, Nightcliff and Palmerston can now enjoy faster, more affordable Internet over our own network.”
