iiNet installs its 500,000th broadband port
Communications giant iiNet has recently installed its 500,000th broadband port in Gosford, New South Wales in its bid to provide more Australians with high speed, low cost broadband access.
It has been reported that the Australian broadband and communications giant iiNet has installed it’s 500,000th broadband port, which has been installed in Gosford in New South Wales. The move has marked a notable milestone with regards to the commitment that the provider has pledged in terms of providing a greater number of Australians with access to broadband that is superfast and affordable.
Construction of the network began back in 2004, with iiNet partnering with partners Ericsson and Visionstream to create what became known as the iiNetwork. Even back then the network was able to provide many benefits including better speeds and improved competition.
Officials from iiNet said that this milestone showed that the company was a leading ‘challenger’ in the communications market. Greg Bader, iiNet’s Chief Technology Officer said: “For residents and businesses in Gosford, and around the country, the expansion of our network means a more competitive market and faster speeds. We don’t believe in waiting for the National Broadband Network to be built, people want faster broadband now.”
The milestone was also marked with a prize for one lucky customer who was migrated to the 500,000th port and was given 500,000MB of free download quota and iiNet’s fetchtv service. The customer said: “I’m looking forward to having faster speeds at home, as I have the Internet running all the time. I’ve been with iiNet for more than eight years and I am a big supporter so it’s really nice to be rewarded for my loyalty and it’s a good thing for the area as it brings more competition which is always a positive.”
