iiNet wants Australians to stay protected online!
Internet Service Provider iiNet is running an online safety series in a bid to try and keep consumers safe when they go online, with the latest instalment dealing with safety when using a public computer or public WiFi.
Online safety is something that has become paramount to all of us over recent years, with more and more of us spending time online for all sorts of things. It is not only internet users themselves that are concerned about online safety, but also officials and even the internet companies themselves.
One of the Australian Internet giants, iiNet, has been running an online safety series to encourage Australians to stay protected online against the myriad of online crime that can occur. As the latest instalment of its series the provider has released a fact sheet that offers tips to users about surfing the internet safely when they are using a public WiFi connection or public computer.
iiNet has said that the fact sheet and the series in general is aimed at improving online safety for Australian broadband and Internet users, making the online environment a safer place to be. The information is designed to protect against problems such as identity theft, fraud and viruses amongst other things.
iiNet’s Compliance Manager, Rebecca Moonen, said: “Internet cafés and WiFi hotspots have become commonplace in Australian cities, but extra precaution is required when accessing these public connections. Our factsheet is designed to be downloaded and shared so we can spread the word on safe online practices, especially for those using the Internet outside of their home network.”
