Whilst many people are always focusing on the download speeds that they get with their broadband package there are also many people to whom the upload speed available is important. This is something that the communications and broadband giant Internode is set to address with its NBN customers in Tasmania.

The company has announced that it is boosting the upload speeds for its NBN customers in Tasmania, which will make a big difference when it comes to the use of high end services such as video conferencing and cloud computing. The upload speeds on the 25Mbps packages will increase from 2Mbps to 5Mbps; on the 50Mbps package they will increase from 4Mbps to 20Mbps; and on the 100Mbps plans the upload speed will increase from 8Mbps to 40Mbps.

An official from Internode said: “The great news is that all our NBN customers benefit automatically. All current services get an instant upload speed increase at no additional cost.  A key benefit of these faster upload speeds is that they better support new and emerging applications, such as high definition IP videoconferencing.”

He added: “Faster upload speeds also improve the performance of telecommuting via Internet virtual private networks, and support emerging business demands for cloud computing and networked data storage. Even general Internet usage like file downloads may be improved by faster upload speeds.”
