telstra 250x83 Australias first LTE demo at 1800 MHz carried out by Telstra and HuaweiIt has been announced that communications giant Telstra and Huawei Technologies has performed the first Australian LTE demo operating at 1800 MHz recently.

LTE is one of two technologies that are being considered by network operators for the next generation of mobile broadband networks. LTE or Long Term Evolution is a technology that is being eagerly awaited by many consumers who use mobile broadband technology, as it will enable users to enjoy faster speeds, better coverage, improved reliability, and much more compared to the existing 3G networks.

It has now been revealed that Australia’s first LTE demo at 1800 MHz has been carried out by communications giant Telstra and Huawei Technologies. The companies are conducting their trials in Victoria, Australia, with the aim being to try and learn more about the application and characteristics of the technology when it comes to the Next G network.

Michael Rocca, Telstra chief operations officer said: “Our trials with Huawei are giving us valuable insights into the potential of LTE technology at 1800MHz and helping Telstra understand how we can make best use of both existing and potential future spectrum assets to continue to deliver a world class mobile broadband service.”

Peter Rossi, CTO of Huawei Technologies Australia stated: “Working with Telstra is a great opportunity for Huawei to show the flexibility of its advanced technology solutions and industry-leading LTE feature set. We look forward to ongoing co-operation with Telstra in the years ahead.”
