Mobile broadband bills create shock for many Australian consumers
A recent report has indicated that a huge number of Australian consumers are shocked when they receive their mobile and mobile broadband bills after finding that the amount that they have to pay is far higher than they anticipated.
It can be a big shock for anyone when they receive a bill for their mobile or mobile broadband usage, but according to one recent report a huge number of Australians have suffered from mobile ‘bill shock’ after failing to realise how much they have spent on their mobile or mobile broadband service.
Research was carried out by the world’s leading messaging company Acision, and the results suggested that more than seventy percent of people in Australia are shocked when they see how much they owe on their mobile bill after using their mobile phone or mobile broadband service, with many finding that they owe far more than they thought that they had spent.
The research also showed that one of the reasons why so many Australians were experiencing this shock was because many were unclear with regards to the cost of certain services such as mobile data downloads. The data showed that whilst nearly half of Australians were now using mobile internet services seventy five percent of these users were unclear with regards to charges.
One industry official said: “Today, most users have a good idea of their voice and text costs in relation to the actual usage. However, when it comes to understanding mobile broadband data costs, consumers struggle purely because these are relatively new services and it is harder to track the costs of downloading mobile data content and monitor charges being incurred.”
