New N3G001W 3G Wireless router announced by NetComm
A major Australian communications product supplier has announced the release of a new 3G wireless router that will allow multiple users to use a single 3G PC card to connect to a 3G network.
The NetComm N3G001W 3G wireless router is the first in a suite of 3G products that are to be released into the Australian market and will provide multiple users with a high speed 3G broadband connection to the internet according to NetComm, a leading communications and products solution provider.
Multiple users will be able to use both desktop PCs and notebooks to access the internet at the same time using the N3G001W, which allows a single PCMCIA 3G card to be shared. Removing the need to buy multiple PCMCI cards will allow users to get high-speed broadband access at a fraction of the cost. The PCMCIA card connects to the router and is relayed into a single 802.11g wireless connection running at 54Mbps and offers full support for both the cards and networks of all the main providers including TelstraNextG, Optus, Hutchison, 3 and Vodafone.
The Managing Director of NetComm, David Stewart said “It’s particularly appealing to those people who are on the fringe areas of the ADSL network. These people will now be able to receive a reasonable if not higher-quality data network where they haven’t previously been able to get ADSL. It will also appeal to renters who have not previously wanted to pay the costs and make the commitment to ADSL. Of course it will also appeal to users in the huge bush market who are still waiting for any form of broadband.”
A number of security measures are also provided with the N3G001W router including wireless LAN 64 and 128 bit WEP encryption, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, WPA/WPA2 authentication and TKIP/AES encryption security.
