Mobile broadband and internet services and devices have become increasingly popular amongst Australians, with both casual users and business professionals taking advantage of the flexibility, ease, and convenience that these devices and services offer. There could be some good news for those that benefit from connecting to the Internet whilst on the go, with the announcements of a new high speed WiFi hotspot that is being launched by communications and broadband giant Telstra.

Telstra officials said that the new hotspot would enable Australians to connect multiple mobile devices to the Internet whilst they are out and about. The new Telstra Elite® Mobile Wi-Fi will be in stores for pre-paid customers from next week. It is Australia’s fastest battery-powered 3G mobile Wi-Fi device and up to five WiFi enabled devices can be connected to it at the same time in areas where there is Next G coverage.

Warwick Bray, Executive Director Telstra Mobility Products said: “More than 4 million Australians now use mobile broadband to connect when commuting, to access Facebook at university, and to work flexibly out of the office. Our customers tell us they love the speed and reliability of Next G mobile broadband but they’ve said they’d like an easier way to share it with a greater range of Wi-Fi enabled devices including smartphones, tablets, cameras, laptops and portable games consoles.”

He added: “With the press of a button this mobile hotspot can connect up to five devices to the internet at speeds up to twice as fast as competitor 3G products in capitals and many regional areas. Customers can now avoid the hassle of having to find public hotspots by taking mobile Wi-Fi with them. We think they’re going to love how easy this device makes connecting their services.”
