3 Mobile broadband plans are increasingly popular as they are very competitively priced (you will generally get the best price/data allowance for your money with offers from 3). However coverage and speeds are average though they do seem to be improving.

At present 3’s combo cap which combines the Nokia E63 and mobile broadband access in one plan is proving to be a popular choice, particularly on the $29 cap. Outside of this option 3’s mobile broadband plans are competitive at all levels from their $15 1GB plan through to their$49 8GB plan. There’s also the option of other phones with their Combo plans including the Blackberry Bold.

Vodafone mobile broadband is a good all round performer with competitive pricing, good speeds and coverage and a decent range of plans to choose from. Prices are as cheap as or cheaper than other providers with the exception of their sister company 3. Vodafone, arguably alongside Optus, have the best mix of good performance and value for money.

The 1GB $15 monthly plan is very competitive and great for those who don’t need to download lots of data (films etc) and is a very popular plan. Vodafone tend to be better value than most providers if you plan to use your mobile broadband abroad though this still can be expensive and should be avoided for heavy download activities such as downloading or watching movies online.
